About my previous Amazon Underground post

As I was hoping it might, my post You can’t trust Amazon Underground generated some discussion on Hacker News.

It’s definitely worth checking out the threaded comments as they discuss not only the specifics of the Amazon Underground store situation, but the various approaches to privacy held even by people of a fairly technical mindset.

it would seem that it wasn’t, in fact, my blocking of my location, contacts, and other data leaving my phone that triggered the pop-up from Amazon. Instead, there’s a toggle about ‘sharing data’ in the Amazon app itself that I’d switched off.

The thing about this, as I commented myself in the HN thread, is that we’re all always learning. In fact, from some of the apps and approaches mentioned by commenters in passing, I’ve already learned a lot about even more I can do to protect my privacy!
